| In June 2002, FMC APG established its China R&D center – FMC (Shanghai) Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (CTC) in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Pudong, Shanghai. Scientists and engineers make-up this talented organization whose focus is on new process/product development and manufacturing transfer projects. They cooperate with global organizations to support FMC business. The R&D center is well established with advanced instrumentation. |
Process Development
Process development is a bridge between new product chemistry and product manufacturing and it has become an independent study since 1950s.
In FMC APG Shanghai R&D Center, process development engineers and chemists collaborate to develop the technology and chemical processes to make our active ingredients into high quality, highly robust and productive manufacturing processes. Most of our chemical development work focuses on scale-up for testing use targeting economic processes that are safe, efficient, qualified and environmentally-friendly. |

Analytical Science
 |
Our analytical sciences team provides quality control support to our manufacturing projects, as well as on-site troubleshooting and new supplier qualification. Our team provides analytical method development for our product chemistry and process development. The analytical laboratory at CTC obtained OECD GLP (Good Laboratory Practices)certification in August 2006. As a result, we perform GLP studies for our global product registration and support our global business with reference standards.

Formulation Development
FMC CTC established Pesticide formulation development capability in 2008. New product formulations are being developed at this facility for FMC's businesses around the world.

Global Strategic Sourcing
| FMC has centralized its global sourcing with its manufacturing support organization to better leverage the technical capability of our manufacturing support and analytical sciences teams. Our local team sources raw materials, technical products and state-of-the-art packaging for APG's global business. |
